Okay...for some time now, I've had a door ajar light. Took it to the dealer and they said it's pushing a code saying all four door sensors are ajar, thus indicating all four sensors are bad, to include the barn doors in the back. Considering the highly unlikeliness of all of the sensors being bad, they said it was more than likely the GEM. So we replaced the GEM and reprogrammed it, to no avail. I couldn't afford the time without the vehicle to leave it there for extensive trouble shooting (plus I really, really don't have confidence in that particular dealership), unlike my current location's Ford dealer, which is top notch in my book. Anyway. With a new GEM, and the unlikely nature of all of the sensors going out at the same time....where's the best place to start for trying to fix this. It's more than just an irritating dummy light on the dash, it also affects the length of time the lights and radio stay on after exiting the vehicle.
Pull drivers door boot and I bet yellow black wire is cut in half. Our trucks have normally closed door circuits and it's common for wires to get worn in the door that opens and closes the most.

Thanks!! I'll do that, when I get home. Quick question on that, though. Would that yellow-black wire be the culprit for "all doors", or would it indicate just one door?
I'll be happy to have this problem solved, but on the other hand, i'll wanna kick my own butt for not digging in to this sooner, if in fact, it's that simple.
Couldn't answer that one for sure. However, I own a shop that does remote starts and I Have seen hundreds of super duties with the exact problem you are talking about. Pull the boots and look for broke wire. Fords are the only vehicles with this type of door switches. Basically, when you cut the wire in half the dome light comes on.
my '03 expedition did this and i could not figure out what door it was. I was having to pull the fuse. I finally sprayed some wd-40 in all the door latched and continue to do this about once every few months and that took care of the problem. THe light switch was in the latch and was just funked up with dust and grease. Problem fixed and has not come back a year later.

I agree with Jughead and Ro11ovr... I have had this happen to me a couple of times in the distant past.. Always self corrected with WD-40. Now I use it every few months and problem never came back.. I spray into latch area on side of doors and move the little spray tube to get as deep as I can.. Be sure you do the 2 back gates as well...
The door panels come off so easily. It's a good idea to open it and have a look. I wasted a half of a can of WD-40 and all I got was a mess. When I pulled the panel I found the door ajar switch dangling in the cavity. The plunger part was broken off. A new switch isn't expensive (under $20).
Yep you've got a couple. Sticky/bad switches! Line them. I just did this to mine. I sprayed a little WD40 in the latches to free up the switches. Very simple fix. Any dealer should know these switches are the culprit!
