I ‘m trying to find somebody who can solder the resisters on my overhead display. I have at least one that is loose.
If I tap it, the display illuminates for a few minutes. I assume it goes out when it heats up a bit. I’ve tried local (Roane County) Radio Shack, and computer repair shops, but none do any solder. Don’t seem to be any TV repair shops around any more. At least none that solders.
I’d try it myself, but my stubby fingers are to shaky when dealing with fine tune performance.
Try precision battery in Harriman. I had a friend who worked there once. He is no longer there but maybe they will be willing.
Also I have had good luck with the guys at Ace hardware in Kingston, at Kingston Landing. They don't do it at the store but there are always seceral old retired guys working there that would be willing to help or at least give you a good idea where to go to get help.
I agree the Radio Shack in Harriman used to be a good place to go but not anymore. Have ypu trued the TV place in downtown Kingston? It used to be the Zenith store but now it is another brand. I bet they would be willing to help. That is if they are still open...
I just realized who you are, Duh...
Bring the problem with you to Cherokee and i bet me or my brother can fix it for ya. He is a good solderer, self proclaimed that is. LOL
Well..... then that’s three things I will know he can do.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> I already know he can tackle the shat out of a tree if you keep feeding him barley soda.<o></o> <o></o> I'll have it on me truck. <o></o> Anything special I need to bring?<o></o> Itty bitty solder Gun; type of solder, special bifocals?<o></o> <o></o> And by the way be on the look out for an overhead display console (outside shell), busted mine to bits when I removed once too many times.<o></o>
Pity you're out east, I have a ton of solder gear that I keep handy at all times. Solder guns are a bad idea - they put on too much heat half the time, where a soldering PEN with an adjustable heat range is the best.
~But then, that was part of my rating in the NAV...
If you really want to make the guy happy - bring along some extra solder (rosin core will do), some flux, and a small assortment of heat shrinkable tubing to insulate everything
honestly what keeps him happy is the barley.
But then again you know that.
I have a sooldering iron and a little bit of solder I'll bring. Might even find a console for ya. What color?
I found you one. With the wiring harness and all. Real cheap.
But it is sand something colored. It will paint though, I'll bring some grey paint too. and maybe some black.
