I found another one of these thread things talking about the samw thing. Supposidly, wal-mart wanted to expand their market and get a offroad tire to help bring in more 4x4s, work trucks and farm trucks, so they made a deal with goodyear, buying a massive amount of tires that no one else could compeate with. A goodyear guy said that they would not put their name on a "sucky" tire, and that the only reason they are not sold at other stores is because of 2 reasons. 1st, in order to help reduce cost, they used a slightly harder rubber compound, differnt plys and belting. 2nd is that walmart bought massive amounts or something. But, the goodyear guy said they are trying to compeate with other off road tires, and are supposed to perform almost on the same leval as the goodyear mt/r or the other goodyear off road tires, and are tested as vigourously as the others. As for the bf goodrich a/ts, i know they are good tires, just not so good in snow. I would prolly get the BFGs but the goodyears look more agressive, maybe better for a 2wd? Any input??

Heck BFG ATs are great in snow, That is the only tirre I will run on my Jeep CJ in snow. The agressive BFGs MT on my F250 4X4 suck in snow.

I am looking at bout the same tires but 35". For me are they made in the USA or not. I am wanting a tire that has aggressive look but does good all the way around. An I was told on the tires you want a tire that is you want to look how they will do in bad weather an the road noise they might make an the stopping distance on them.

I did ask and both the bfgoodrich and the goodyear are made in the USA. I did check on the goodyear, and it has the little snowflake mountain symbol on it, so im guessing it is ok for bad weather? Im perttysure the bfgoodrich might have the little snowflake mountain symbol on it. So Kalve, what tire would you go with?

I was looking Goodyear but I hear the BFG are good. But BFG is Michelin tires. BFG sold there tire business to Michelin in 88 an go under Goodrich Corp now. Michelin got the BFG name an sells them. I hear the BFG are real good but I would go with Goodyear they are a american company an Michelin is in France. But thats just me I am going to looking into the Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armour tires or something like that. On Goodyear's website it shows for 16" wheels you could go with 265 75 R16 an it shows the best tire as Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac with a 10 as highest rating: Dry Traction & Wet Traction 8 Snow Traction 10 Off Road Traction 9 Quiet Ride 6. Its a American company the tires are MADE IN USA which we don't have enough of now of days an they are good on & off road an they look good. I check ed an Walmart carries them at bout $218 a tire for one with a high load level on it. You could probably find them cheaper else were thou.

Either company's a/t tire should do well in snow or mud, but an on-highway tire will do better on wet pavement than either. There's always some level of compromise involved. A BFG Long Trail would do better on a wet road than a BFG All-Terrain, but the latter would do better in a muddy field or in deep snow.

so they changed the tread compound, belting, and sidewalls to be sold at walmart? sounds like the whole tire to me. i've had good luck with both brands of tires, been running radial long trails on my dd, cant remember who makes them though. walmart doesnt sell a john deere that i know of. everything sold there seems to be the cheaped up junky version.

Well, i just got tires today. They are a nice upgrade, from a set of 215/75/r15s to 31"x10.5"r15s. I went with the goodyear wrangler authoritys. They look awsome on the truck, and fit great without any rubbing. It actually looks like my kind of truck now...all it needs now is a brush guard...haha. They changed the stance of the truck, looks awsome.

I have 235/75/R15 GoodYear Radials on two of my trucks from Walmart. They have quite a bit of meat on them and seem to be an all weather pattern. They have a 50,000 miles warranty, they ride good and don't make much road noise. 80 bucks a tire, thats mounted and balanced. I have had great luck with them. I did have to get two new ones once but that was my fault. The rubber is fairly soft and I did a couple burn outs and demolished the back two.

I run Mastercraft Courser Mt's on my Bronco. They have taken me through a little bit of everything. Even the bad winter ice storm of 2009.

I run 33X 12.5 Kuhmo venture MT on my 77 work and plow truck-originally was looking at BFG MT but found the Kuhmo on tire rack on sale and have loved them-great traction and they have worn better than any other tire I have ever had on the truck. With your choices I would go BFG's have had better luck with those over goodyears.

BFG all-terrain all the way. If your in 2 wheel or 4wheel, these tires are an all-around awesome tire. Nothing but.....

For med-mild off road use, definitely BFG A/T's over the Goodyear Wranglers . They will wear longer, have less road noise, look better, and take more abuse. Now if you are looking mainly for a hwy tire then get you a good set of Michelins. Although the Michelin's don't perform very well at ALL in off road use (even on wet grass).
