Hello All.
Finding it hard to find out info i need for a idea i have for my Truck.
Its a 1983 F100 351 Cleveland C4.
with Nearly 800,000 K's on her i did a top end rebuild which it
did not like. Put on 302 closed chamber head to boost up the comp.
a fairly larger cam duel roller timing chain , redline torker single plain manifold
roller rockers, duel valve springs, extractors. Kept the stock carb as it runs on gasand was going to put on a impco 425 gas carb.
The bottom end was still standard bore with very little to no lip on the cylinder walls.
The bad thing was that the stock timing gear that had the plastic around the gears had over time broke away and sat in the bottom of the sump. With all the new bits added it ran for about 2 minutes before there was a bang. Taking of a valve cover i found it had snapped a pushrod. Swaped the 3 piece for a set of super heavy duty 1 piece and that was that. A week later got a lot of lifter noise. the more i looked the less i could see intill i tried to pull a lifter on could not get it out. The borken timing gear plastic had some how come up through the pump and blocked the oil gallerys and completly burnt out the cam, lifters and as i found today the cam bearings that now have big chucks out of them.
Instead of giving it a full rebuild i want to just know about droping a 460 in.
all the stuff i find are 351m swaps but not clevelands. Think only australian f'trucks used this combo so its hard to see.
Want i want to know is do the 460 mounts that come over the chasis mount with the hole through for a bolt fit with the 351c or is there something else that will bolt straight up. Any help would be good. Been on the net for about 5 hours now and cant find anything.
Any help would be great
Thanks
I think you have a 351 Windsor, Clevelands were only made from 1970-1973 there abouts if you have a cleveland. I doubt it is stock. 1983 the 351 Windsor was produced. GL
it is a clevo. Think that we kept the clevelands going in australia while
you guys went to windsors. not sure aswell but i think we kept the name f100 for a few years longer to.
Can not figure out how to put the pics on.
Just checking up the id on my truck and i think it was a 6 cylinder
so it would of been a 250. Looks like where the front cross member is there are mounts welded onto the back of it that the Cleveland bolt into.
so the question is can i get an adapter or anything to mount a 460 onto this or is there cutting or welding involved. Would love a bolt on kit to make it easy if anybody knows of such a thing. Looked on transdapt ( thanks 6fifty_f1fifty ) but looks to be mostly chevy stuff. I would just just buy a new truck but i have had this on for a while now and done way to much work to it to just buy another.
