Ok bought my f250 reg cab 4x4 5.4. And hit my first problem i has the 9000gvwr and 5280 dry weight. Im in va and dealer said i need truck tags. As far as i can tell this sticks me with an extra 500$ taxes qnd doesnt seem to give memanything. If i put passenger tags (if it is legal) does that mean i cant go over 7500lbs?
Im excited qbout truck but not an extra 500$ a year in tax. Any fellow virginians to help me out?
Ive been searchin on this and all i can find is anecdotes saying "i have truck tags" or "i have passenger tags". From what i have found i *think* i can register the truck as a passenger car at 7499 lbs and give up 1501lbs of capacity or leave the truck tags pay an extra ~500 a year on tax. Neither one seems like a good deal 5000$ in extra tax over 10years? No!!! And i dont even know what other restrictions/problems with truck tags ill run into. But im sure running 9000lbs in a truck titled for 7499 could get me some huge fines...
