Does anyone have suggestions of a Cat-Back exhaust for a '97 expy? I have looked at Borla, Bassani, Flowmaster. I don't know which is better for performance/sound.
i have looked also into this. I am now considering a custom dual exhaust and supercharger. I will drop a note when i get some more details. know anything about 2- 2 1/2 inch lift for expy's
Sorry, not in the market to lift my truck. let me know what you find out about the exhaust. You probably should get headers if you're going with a supercharger!
LAST EDITED ON 16-Jun-00 AT 11:54 AM (EST)[p]I started with a Flowmaster 50 series (3 chamber) muffler with a single exit to a 3.5" chrome tip at the same place as the original tail pipe (behind the passenger rear wheel). The performance was great, the sound was great - OUTSIDE. In the cab, it was obnoxious. If you like that, go for it.
I just replaced the muffler with a 70 series SUV muffler by Flowmaster and added a 2nd exit with a matching 3.5" chrome tip on the other side behind the driver side rear wheel. LOVE IT! The performance is still great, and the sound is awesome. Nice deep rumble, sounds great when you get on it, but doesn't annoy with normal driving. I highly recommend this set up!
'00 EB Expy 5.4 with K&N intake, Superchip, Flowmaster cat-back
I like the Gibson because I get the improvement in performance, but not the oeverwhelming sound of the Flowmaster or Borla. About the same performance gains, and the Gibson is much cheaper (about 1/2 the cost) of the Borla. They both have lifetime warranties. I think the Gibson works really well, and if you don't want the sound of a monster truck, this one is the best
