Synthetic from factory
A friend of mine recently picked up his newly ordered '03 Crown Vic. It came from the factory with synthetic in the crankcase. First oil change @ 3500 per manual.
I knew Corvettes, Porches and some Mercedes and BMWs were coming out of the factory with Mobil 1. Didn't know Ford was there yet.

Screw what ford recommends for oil. 5w20 is just a money maker... Go with any oil you want. Oil is oil, there are better oils than some but 5w20 means nothing. 5w30 is basically the same, its actually better cause you get the heat rating. if you overheat or something you can almost guarantee that 5w30 will protect just a bit better than 5w20. Just my opinion, but Synthetic is way better. I run 5w50 in my car, runs excellent love the start ups. Gets right to the point...
