Question STEERING COLUMN

Hey guys/gals,
Quick question, I'm trying to get the column cover that bolts up to the dash off of my parts truck. "79 f250"
It's a one piece unit that slides onto the column, I Pulled the wheel however it looks to be a little more in depth than what i initially anticipated. would I be better off to pull the entire column out and slide it off the bottom or take off the turn and shift selectors and pull it off the top?? If it is off the top can someone point me to a procedure to remove said pieces? Guess that wasn't that quick...
BTW it's an automatic trans if you didn't catch that. Thanks in advance!

Are you referring to the plastic cover that is visible from inside the cab and is right where the column meets the dash. If so it is 2 piece that locks together on top. On mineI removed the 2 bolts holding the column in and this allowed me to slide one half up a bit and it seperated on top.
Just guessing.

There is a split on top but it doesn't open enough to allow me to pull it off, I really dont want to force it. The two bolts you are referring to are the one's that hold the column to the dash? I'll try that and see what happens, thanks

That cover will spread enough to get it off the column, I know it does feel good doing it but it will be fine. Just in case you missed them there are also 2 screws underneath holding the collar on plus the 2 you can see facing you..

Awesome! No sweat came off soooo easy the plastic was a lot more flexible than I thought. However it doesn't seem to fit the same on my 4x4 but I would imagine that I can make it fit. Thanx again

Glad you got it off, the ones for a 77 an alder are steel and alot smaller and the platic ones from 78 up for trucks with tilt wheel are different. You can shorten them to fit a tilt wheel if need be. This is more info than you needed but what the hell.
