im looking at a john deere 544B for snow removal this winter! just wondering how reliable they are. it has 5 thousand hrs on it and i can get it for 10K, the tires have 80prcnt tread left and im green to these animals. so i was just looking for a little bit of input if you could

I'm not too familar with pay loaders but I'd be looking in Tractorhouse for similar sized machines and see what they are going for. I would imagine Deere has the same reputation with construction equipment as they do with agricultural units. If it looks like it's in good condition you probably cannot go wrong.
I found this link on the 544... not sure if it's any benefit or not but it has a lot of specifications and capacities.
They are a pretty well lived tractor. Hydraulic lines tend to be the biggest weakness with age. Check the pivot bearings too! Other then that, they are a pretty nice running rig. I like that engine overhaul cost is pretty minimal compared to Case, and for a JD, it doesnt have that heavy tag to go with it!
