I went to napa to get some spark plugs and they gave me the wrong ones. I went back and they showed that the spark plugs in the system showed a different type. The new ones were skinny, and the OEM? ones from napa were fat like a chevy... didnt know if this was a normal thing but just had me curious since they were sure i have different heads on the engine. New spark plugs are numbered 24... anyone have a clue on this?
also, ive been browsing the interwebs for info and ive heard mixed opinions about putting 351w headers on a 302... some say yes, some say no... i know model and type come into play but im just curious
Autolite makes the "24" spark plug.It is a 14mm tapered seat plug with a reach of .460 in.A better plug is the 25 as it is a hotter range plug.Hope this helps. It is a 5/8 hex.
i wonder if my heads were swapped at some points. I actually pulled them today to get them machined. Im curious if it has been rebuilt before we bought it a few months ago, because the lifters have absolutely no wear spot on them. Sorry bout the thread-jacking.
the block is stamped above the starter..you'll probably have to remove it to see the casting number...but all that it can tell you is the block year...and i'm not sure about the heads but i want to say it's in the area under the valve covers. since the block is the easiest if it is stamped way off from the year your truck is i'd bet the heads are original to the block.
that makes sense. im going to have to replace the starter soon, so ill look at that when i do it. Kinda makes me mad that i dont have an all original...
