Okay here it is. I have a 95 Powerstroke. Since I bought it it has had a rough idle and occasionally at a stop light after I've come to a stop it will sit and stumble so hard you swear it is going to die. I kick the throttle a little and it smooths out to the regular rough idle. Once I break off of idle it runs perfect pulls great is the best truck ever. I replaced the old crappy fuel filter housing with one off of a 97 thanks to a mechanic at work that sucks at diagnosing it was free lucky me. I've put a new California pressure regulator and resealed the ICP. With the ICP out I tested the solenoid and every time I put power to it it would pick up a screwdriver with little effort. What now??? No codes ever. I've unplugged the IPR and the engine doesn't change. I unplug the ICP and it dies. IDM? Any incite would be great. Oh and it does it anywhere during the oil change cycle with delo valvoline blue and rottela.
I believe your mixing your ICP and IPR terms. Does this problem get worse as the engine gets warm? To me it sounds like oil pressure is bleeding off at the IPR or Injector o-rings but i'm not positive.
Yeah I did get the ICP IPR thing mixed up. It does get a little worse as the truck warms up but it is especially bad when I pull. Can injector o-rings cause this problem. It is so inconsistent and the truck runs so good off idle that I'm flat stumped. I resealed the IPR. If I unplug the IPR and the truck dies I unplug the ICP and nothing changes. The fuel pressure regulator I got from ford was for a 96 with California emissions it was a hundred dollars cheaper than the non cali and runs higher pressure. I can't believe how much more throttle response I've got now.
This sounds alot like what mine does...from previous discussions it was concluded it was probably o-rings. I've ordered a set and will change them out in the next few weeks. I'm hoping....
When at idle if I very slowly rev up I can feel a slight miss.
If I mat it (in neutral) it will rev up to 2500, then hesitate, then the rest of the way to 3k.
On the highway, it seems fine.
I haven't tried unpluging the ICP or IPR, because the miss is so subtle when it's idling good.
