starter???
i have a 79 f250 351M NP435 tranny. on early morning start, starter spins but doesnt grab flywheel, i will have to do 2 attempts before it grabs, is this my starter on its way out or......?

sounds like the armature underneath the bump on the starter itself...some time you can take it apart and clean it...but if you take it off why not replace it right? well i never have the money so pull it apart and clean it or take a piece of wood with it still on the truck and put it against it and tap with a hammer (AKA- beat it like a red headed step child). sometimes that fixes it for a good while.
