Rear Spring Education requested

Originally, my rear springs were mounted with stamped steel mounting plates that were on top of the springs. From another truck, I got a set of cast mounting plates that go on the bottom of the axles and the U bolt loops over the top of the spring. Will it matter how they are mounted in terms of buying springs? The one company that I found who could get them said they would be 7 leaf with 1050 lb capacity. I haven't found anyone else who showed availability. Anyone have any ideas where one can buy new springs and which should I buy when I have no idea how many leaves were in the old ones? I know there were quite a few suspension options and I don't care as much about the originality of the truck. I just want it to work. Would I be better off taking the original setup off another truck completely and having them rearched?

I would get springs off of a pre 78 f100 just for the fact theres aftermarket parts available. In fact I would take the shackles and perches also because a 66 is different. If you want a really nice ride and dont haul much weight look into 63" chevy leafs.

Eaton springs has several options available for springs. Just type Easton springs into google.
