EBPV brake

hey everybody i have a quick question. i recently tried to hook up my ebpv as a exhaust brake. but it didnt work. i disconected the connector at the bottom of the turbo pedistal (two wire) i decided to completely eliminate the computer from the ebpv so the computer side of the plug is just hangin there. but i hooked up a power wire from the fuse box to a switch and then to the power wire (or so i think) on the ebpv. and grounded the other wire. now when i hit the switch the arm moves a little but it never closes all the way. when its cold it sometimes closes all the way but when its running and warm it closes just a little. (you can just barely hear it in the exhaust......i thought it was a defctive switch but its not. any thoughts as to why its not working? could i have the wires hooked up backward? (+,-)
thanks
mike

the EPBV is oil actuated, the cylinder inside the pedestal is probably just ovaled out and it doesn't work properly anymore. so the oil just flows around.

All the wires do on the pedestal is tell it where to send the oil to open or close the ebpv.

I'd just remove it.
Waste of time unless you live in northern Alaska.
