Does it pull down like your stalling a standard or is it act like no fuel?

Sounds like CAM sensor or possibly TC but usually if they are going it will do that in reverse

I'd try the cam sensor first, but it sounds like the converter may not be unlocking.

try this the next time you drive it get up to 55MPH with one foot still on the gas take the other foot and tap the brake watch the RMP's and see if they jump up a little when you hit the brake if it does then the TQ is unlocking

How many miles on the truck? My 97 did that a couple times. One time it was in need of a tranny rebuild because the TQ was locking up. (Do this test when the truck is warmed up.) Check if it does it in reverse, and when shifting into manual 1st gear. If it acts up when doing either or both of those situations, then get ready for a tranny rebuild. If that doesn't do anything, then you're probably looking at replacing the IPR o-rings, or just replacing the IPR.

I'd still try another cps. If you got one at a parts store they are known to be less reliable, may last a day, maybe a year, luck of the draw. Easy check. Need a spare anyway. Get one from ford or ih, better but still can quit.
