Just started work on the first fixed work bench in my shop.
2' x 12' medium duty with nice shiny counter top.
I have 2 more fixed benches after this, this rest are roll-arounds.
Anyway, I have had to make do for the last 5 years with my tools living in boxes, or on the kitchen - sometimes up on the roof - it sucked. I am a happy man.
My tip here is the leveling of a fixed bench. Instead of a level I opted for a marble. It just struck me after thinking about how many times I have had lurch for something or see it roll off the table and of course come to a stop under the bench in the hardest to reach spot.
I shimmed the top so that the marble, if nudged, rolls to the back of the counter top instead of off the edge.
I'll add a photo to this when it is presentable. Stylesider
