Code p006a???

Have an 03 ex with the 6.0L it keeps throwing code P006A. I have changed both the MAP sensor and the mass air flow sensor. It does have an egr cooler delete kit and new up pipe. I have the egr valve plugged in to the PCM but as a dummie valve it is capped on the intake manifold. I have been through and checked my best for any air leaks as well. The CEL seems to come on every 5th or so times I start the engine and drive. Thanks in advance! Matt

You do not need a dummy EGR valve on the 03, so you can remove it. Are you using the stock air filter?

Most of use SCT custom tuning and a good source is Eric at Innovative Diesel. You can use a street file with the EGR turned off, higher HP programs will require head studs for the added cylinder pressure. I read a few posts where the new flash is pretty touchy and will detect the air flow difference from your AFE intake. Stock, the Donaldson filter will handle up to 500HP.

Just to make sure I understand what your saying, I should pull the AFE and put the stock one back in. Is the Donaldson filter a stock one? Sorry if my questions seem dumb but I'm still learning

thanks, Matt

The stock air filter is Donaldson, not sure if that is going to solve your code problem but it is a better filter. Do you oil the AFE filter after you clean it? How long has it been on the truck?

I have a stock air filter on my truck and after reassembling after doing the HPOP, I have this code as well. I too have the latest flash on my truck after having an injector services 6 months ago.

Could we refer to this pinpoint test for determining the cause or is this specific to something else?

I just noticed people seeing this code after the latest flash.....must be something related. If it does not effect performance, guess I would ignore it until someone hits on a solution.

If you just had the 06E17 performed, which is way old....that could be related.

As far as I know the AFE filter has been on the truck since It was new in 03. Yes I cleaned it and made sure it is oiled. To dkhollins, My buddy is a diesel tech at the local ford dealer he said also to check all your intercooler connections and the hose from the map sensor if there is a small leak it might trip it as well. Im gonna get a new air filter and try that. Thanks again for all your help!
