Why Pay Retail? There are F-150 Deals to Be Had!
One of the most common questions I received from you all about the 2015 F-150 Platinum that we recently reviewed was how can people afford such expensive trucks? After a little bit of digging, I quickly learned there are deals to be had, even on the brand new truck, that could save you a lot of money.
I recently talked to a dealership in Southern California that is cutting the price of 2015 F-150s significantly. Many are selling at $500 over invoice.
So what is invoice, you ask? The 2015 F-150 Platinum, with no additional options, retails at $54,385 before delivery. The invoice on that truck, which is the price that the dealer pays, is $49,355. There’s a considerable amount of profit built into these vehicles.
Keep in mind, that even at invoice price, Ford is still making money off of these trucks, and the dealerships still make a little bit on the deal.
When you start adding options, even more profit is built into the truck. We found a truck similar to the Platinum that we had in for review with a MSRP of $62,130. The invoice price, after the dealership pays for freight, advertising, and fuel, is $57,147.
If trucks sold at one of the busier dealerships in the country is selling at $500 over invoice, it should be easy to find deals this good or better.
