We Have a 2015 F-150 Platinum, What Do You Want to Know?
A couple of months ago, we had an all-new, all-aluminium 2015 F-150 XLT in for a review. The XLT trim was nice, and a good representation of what many people look for when they look at a new pickup truck. But what if you have a few more bucks instead? If you’re someone looking to experience the 2015 F-150 for everything it has to offer, an upgrade to the Platinum edition is called for. Over the 4th of July weekend, we have one in for review, and what to know what you want to know!
Our review unit is a fully-loaded, SuperCrew version. It has 4-wheel drive, the FX4 Off Road package, and the 3.31 final drive. That last bit is important, because that particular ratio should provide the best fuel efficiency from the 3.5L EcoBoost V6.
Luxury options abound in this truck. It has a 360° camera system, so you have a bird’s eye view when you are maneuvering off-road or in a tight parking lot. Radar-based adaptive cruise control paces the car in front of you, and prevents you from road raging out on people who can’t use cruise control. Lane keep assist helps prevent you from straying out of your lane if you get distracted.
If those features sound like something you’d find on a BMW, you’d be correct. But the hits really do keep on coming with this “Cowboy Cadillac.”
Every single light in this truck is LED, including new quad-beam headlights. We highlighted the spotter mirrors before, but it’s worth mentioning that they’re on this truck as well.
A massive panoramic sunroof really does let the outside in and brighten up the cabin. Of all of the items on the options list, the panoramic roof seems like a really good deal and a worthwhile option box to check.
Obviously dual-zone climate control is standard, but the Platinum edition goes the extra mile for your comfort offering heated and cooled seats, and those front seats also have an active massage function. Your truck can give you a back massage while driving down the expressway.
Actually, considering that it has radar cruise and active lane keeping, it could keep you on the highway if the massage actually put you to sleep while driving!
Some other fun features include the remote-control tailgate, which drops at a push of a button on the keyfob. In that tailgate is the second generation of Ford’s tailgate step technology.
This particular truck has Ford’s extended range fuel tank fitted, upping to the capacity to 36 gallons.
The short bed is fitted with a protective spray-in bedliner, and the optional bed extender has also been fitted.
Throughout the course of this media loan, we’ll be covering many of these features with you. But in the meantime, what do you want to know about the truck? As with our other reviews, we’ll compile a list of the most common questions or concerns and answer them for you.
