2005 ford super duty pulling

This week’s Throwback video features a television commercial for the 2005 Ford Super Duty – specifically the F-350 packing the PowerStroke diesel engine. Back then, the Ford F-350 was the king of the hill in terms of towing capacity, pulling 19,200 lbs with the 5th wheel attachment. This allows the ’05 F-350 to pull a huge load of wood and a Bobcat on the same trailer.

To pull those same items with a 2005 Chevy truck, you would have needed two Silverado pickups, so this commercial shows a Ford F-350 pulling that load past a Chevy Silverado 3500 and 2500 which are working together to pull the same items. This spot is as clear as it gets in terms of showing off the towing difference between the big Ford and the closest competitors back in 2005 – and Ford still comfortably tops Chevy in towing 10 years later.
