GT350 and GT350R Get Car & Drivers Year’s Best Car
The Ford GT350 and GT350R are some of the most loved performance vehicles to have debuted this year. They represent a dramatic paradigm shift in the thought process of Ford with the iconic pony car. No longer is the Mustang only relegated to the drag strip and long stretches of highway without turns. The new GT350 and GT350R shed those past visages, and regain the once lost ability to properly turn a corner.
The sportscars use a 5.2-liter flat plane crank V8 engine, a six-speed manual transmission, and some seriously sticky rubber to absolutely dominate at the track. With those performance credentials, the GT350 and GT350R have become media darlings the world over, including the illustrious Car and Driver, which just declared both the GT350 and GT350R one of the year’s top ten best cars.
In addition to the Mustang twins, they were joined by the new Camaro, the Porsche Boxster/Cayman, the Mazda Miata and Mazda 3, and the Volkswagen Golf R. So here’s the real question, should it have won other awards such as Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car?
