Chesapeake’s Garage Brewery brings more than craft beer to the party with its 1969 F-100, owned by the co-founder himself.

No matter what Ford truck, SUV, or van you may come across in your day-to-day, you’ll likely find at least a couple advertising a service or business of some kind. And why not? Fords are all about hard work, and working hard. And if that means attracting new business along the way, so be it.

One such example hangs out in Chesapeake, Virginia, not far from the terminals and the presence of the United States Navy a few miles away from the Atlantic Ocean. The Garage Brewery opened its doors on July 20, with a 1969 F-100 parked out front to greet one and all who partake in the craft brewery’s lineup of beers.

“I built it, I own it, it’s a 1969 F-100,” said Garage Brewery co-founder Ray Gomez. “[It has a] 302 under the hood, three-speed transmission, complete air bags, 280 horsepower.”

The truck took three years to build, according to Gomez, and it’s the perfect truck to draw in new customers from around the Hampton Roads metropolitan region. You certainly can’t beat the weathered gray paint all along the body, the lowered stance and massive steelies with stock chrome hubcaps, and yellow headlights, all matching The Garage Brewery’s yellow-and-black branding.

“It was a personal project years ago, and then we opened the brewery and decided to use it there,” said Gomez, who created the brewery with his wife, Ulyana Gomez, a local entrepreneur and investor in the Greenbrier area. “It has not gone anywhere since we opened July 20. But it still runs, fires right up. Pump the airbags up with a couple switches on the dash, and takeoff. It’s a lot of fun.”

The love for Fords and all other cars and trucks doesn’t stop with the F-100. The brewery lives up to its name by hosting car shows in its parking lot every so often, starting its own monthly “Pints & Pistons” meetups in October. And besides, any brewery that not only has a cool Ford truck parked out front, but also opens its floor to a Bullitt Mustang is definitely a place we’d love to be.
