It seems that headlight technology has been steadily increasing for years now, even to the point that some enthusiasts think that it’s improving faster than the DOT can keep up. However, an independent agency, the IIHS, thinks that some trucks’ headlights – including the F-150’s – are too dim.

The IIHS recently released their crash test information on the SuperCrew and SuperCab F-150, but what about the safety of the regular cab?

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tested all the half-ton pickups on sale and determined the 2016 Ford F-150 to be the safest of them all.

Several places, including the latest Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) report, suggest that aluminum is more expensive to repair than steel, and will also mean insurance rates will be higher. Ford counters with their own numbers. The key here is Ford’s data comes from a much larger sample size, which matters.

The IIHS awarded the 2015 F-150 SuperCrew as a Top Safety Pick, putting to rest any doubt that aluminum isn’t as safe as steel.

The big news of the week regarding the 2015 Ford F-150 surely has to be the disparity in crash test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) between a SuperCrew F-150 and a SuperCab F-150.
