Stunning First-Gen Ford F-150 Raptor Is Showroom Fresh With 1,400 Miles
This amazingly preserved first-gen Ford F-150 Raptor is already a modern classic thanks to its V8 powerplant.
Though Ford is reportedly getting ready to stuff its 5.2-liter Predator V8 in the forthcoming F-150 Raptor R, purists still long for the days when the first-gen Ford F-150 Raptor was available with V8 power. The Raptor R may very well turn out to be a limited offering sold with massive markups, so the original will still be a hot collector’s item even when it arrives next year. And in that regard, this 1,400-mile first-gen Ford F-150 Raptor up for grabs at Bring a Trailer is a blue-chip find.
The stellar off-roader has obviously never seen anything but pavement, and there might be a good reason for that. The seller purchased it from the company he works for, which bought the truck new. No word on what that company does or what they used it for, but obviously, they didn’t use it for much of anything that required actually driving it.
Regardless, the result is a stunning time capsule that makes us think we’ve teleported back to 2014. The Race Red exterior is in simply perfect condition, and the truck is totally original save for the addition of a Corsa exhaust. That way at least, we can better hear the glorious 6.2-liter V8 that lurks underhood, which originally produced 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque.
That’s less than today’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6-powered Raptor, but exactly zero enthusiasts care about that. After all, the V8 sounds amazing, and there’s nothing that can be done to equal its deep rumble when you lop off two cylinders. And that’s precisely what makes these trucks so special, and so beloved among collectors.
Otherwise, this truck is pretty much standard Raptor fare, including a perfect black leather interior and the presence of the Luxury Package. That option adds a host of niceties, including remote start, navigation, Sony audio system, HID headlamps, power-adjustable pedals, power-folding heated side mirrors, and heated and cooled power-adjustable front seats.
Bidding has already crested the $45,000 mark as of this writing, with three days to go in the auction. This beauty is a lock to exceed its original MSRP of $56k, and we think it’ll go for much higher when the dust settles. After all, you just don’t find first-gen F-150 Raptors with this kind of mileage in this kind of condition, even though they aren’t terribly old yet.
