Seventh-Gen Mustang Debuts TONIGHT (Sept 14): Here’s How To Watch!!!
After nine model years, Ford will finally unveil the 2024 S650 seventh-gen Mustang at a Detroit Auto Show event dubbed The Stampede.
We live in a world where the Ford Motor Company only makes SUVs and trucks. Well, almost. Because the only car still worthy of running down the union factory lines of America’s best-selling brand is the Mustang. Aka the world’s best-selling sports car. In 2024, the original pony car will be turning 60 years young with a brand new generation. And there’s only one town on this entire planet fit to host a seventh-gen Mustang unveiling… Motor City, baby.
How to Watch the Seventh-Gen Mustang Unveiling
Two choices, friends. Get thyself over to Detroit posthaste where Ford will be unveiling the S650 generation Mustang in Hart Plaza at 8PM EDT on September 14 at an event dubbed The Stampede. Or you can simply watch it right here via Ford’s official YouTube channel —
Following the reveal, if you’d like to see the seventh-gen Mustang in person, hit up the Detroit Auto Show. It will remain on display at the Huntington Place convention center September 17 – 25.

S650 – Evolution Not Revolution
As with any potential new Mustang generation, rumors have swirled for years. The Mustang isn’t just a car. Or a Ford. It’s a freakin’ ICON. (Seriously, it says so right on Ford’s website.) In truth, all of this was supposed to have happened by now, but a certain global health event that shall not be named pushed things back. As did, and I’m guessing here, rising emissions regulations in a variety of global markets.
In short, we aren’t getting a major new platform (as Corvette fans experienced in 2020), but rather an evolution of the popular S550 platform. Overall, expect to see a facelift, new rear end, and a completely revamped interior. But, regardless of how major or minor this Mustang 7G turns out to be, it will likely become the Mustang’s final gasoline-powered generation and last-standing V8 powered pony/muscle car… which is sad.
So don’t worry about hybrids or all-wheel-drive just yet. And be grateful Ford isn’t sending our beloved Pony to the glue factory as Dodge was forced to do to all of its Hemi-powered cars. Because what we’re going to get — most likely — is a refresh on something tried and true. 5.0L Coyote V8 Mustang GTs. 2.3L EcoBoosts. Manual transmissions and 10R80 Automatics. Independent rear suspensions. Rumbling exhausts. Performance Packages. And hopefully a few special editions.
Long live the Ford Mustang!
