Richard Petty Goes Hellcat Hunting with Special Mustang GTs
Since the introduction of the 2015 Ford Mustang, we haven’t had an option from Ford that has as much power as the outgoing Shelby GT500. With 662 horsepower and a top speed over 200 miles-per-hour, the last-generation GT500 was a beast. But in the meantime, the across-town rivals from Dodge dropped a nuclear bomb with the 707 horsepower Hellcats. Working with Ford, Richard Petty and his tuning shop have prepared a couple of special King Edition models to get Ford into the horsepower fight.
Built on top of the already awesome Mustang GT platform, Petty’s Garage adds a Ford Performance supercharger to boost power from the 5.0L Coyote V8 to 670 horsepower. Additionally, these Mustangs come with a 3 year / 36,000 mile warranty.
All of the King Edition Mustang GTs have performance upgrade options to boost horsepower to 727. Considering that the Mustang is lighter than the Dodge Hellcat siblings, this car should be a rocket.
The Mustangs have custom engine calibrations, a better intake and exhaust, and upgraded half-shafts to handle the increase in power. Cosmetically, depending on which version you choose, there are some significant changes. The King Premier includes big Petty’s Garage wheels and a custom tri-color stripe.
Pricing starts at $67,495 for the King Edition, and $90,495 for the King Premier. They’ll be made in extremely limited numbers, so act now if you want one!
