RAPTOR REPORT Tribute to the 6.2L V8
The premise was to show you that while the 3.5L that’ll appear in the 2017 Raptor might not sound the same as the 6.2L that appeared in previous trucks, it could still be made to sound pleasing to the truck enthusiast.
Today, we’re going to pour one out for the old 6.2L. Making 411 horsepower and 434 lb-ft of torque, it was by no means a slouch.
It was a bit inefficient in regards to fuel economy when I spent a week in one, hitting an average of 13 miles-per-gallon over about 600 miles, but fuel-economy isn’t why you buy a Raptor.
Unless Ford doesn’t sell the 2017 Raptor as well as the previous truck, don’t expect the 6.2L to make a reappearance. And despite it not having a big V8, Ford will surely sell this new truck like hotcakes.
So as a tribute to the outgoing V8, I’ve scoured YouTube for some excellent V8 exhaust videos so that we can, together, remember the greatness of the Ford Raptor with a big, American, V8 under the hood. Enjoy.
And some Raptor jumping videos, just for fun!
Sad about the lack of a V8? Weep with your fellow enthusiasts in the forums!
