Is Now the Time to Buy a New 2019 Ford Truck?
To buy, or not to buy? For one of our members, that is the question.
What’s your dream truck? Maybe it’s a mint-condition, unmolested 2001 SVT Lightning. Maybe it’s a 1953 Ford F-100 street rod. For Ford Truck Enthusiasts forum member “ncl,” it’s a brand new 2019 diesel pickup. The brand doesn’t matter to him much, and he’s open to suggestions.
Currently, “ncl” has a 2017 F-250 4×4 with a 6.2 liter engine. He’s correct in his assessment that the dealer incentives on leftover 2019 models are at their lowest. In addition, many dealers are offering heavy discounts to move trucks off the lot and make room for 2020 models.
However, ncl admits that he’s happy with his current truck, and worries that he may have a “truck addiction.” Does he really need a new truck? Both C12H24 and George C believe that “If you have to ask the question, then NO, you shouldn’t do it.” Dude’s Diesel Performance, a forum sponsor, advises against making the switch if finances are a concern.
Brother_Bluto chimes in to say that he made a similar choice this year and bought a 2019 F-450. He’s very happy with his truck. Mattm400 thinks that it’s a great time to buy with all of the deals going around.
For some, the look of the 2019 truck, along with the proven drivetrain, is reason enough to hop on a deal now. While we’re excited about the 2020 truck and its incredible 1,050 lb/ft of torque, we can understand why some would rather buy a 2019 and stick with a known quantity.
The one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that his new truck should absolutely, positively be a Ford. That shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone!
Member mciokiewicz has dealt with this exact same indecision before. Now that he’s bought his 2019 F-350, he seems to be very happy with his choice.
It seems like our members are split roughly 50/50 on the “buy/don’t buy” issue. Tech threads are a great resource, but threads like this, where the solution is less cut and dry, are just as fun. It’s always a great discussion, with folks on both sides of the issue weighing in.
