No Major Ford Trucks News at the Chicago Auto Show
If you were tuning in hoping for a big reveal at the Chicago Auto Show pertaining to the Ford Trucks line of pickup trucks, you’re going to be in for a disappointment. Sure, Ford will have all of their latest metal at the show for the press and the public to gaze their eyes upon, but don’t expect any new news out of the show.
The first telltale sign that there won’t be Ford truck news at the show starts with a lack of a press conference on the first media day at the show. While they do have a presentation planned for day two’s “Social Media Day,” some of the journalists will already be on airplanes heading home by then.
Secondly, Ford has already made a slew of announcements yesterday regarding the Explorer SUV yesterday for the Chicago show. The Explorer is built in Chicago, so it makes sense to talk about it there.
But the next big show that Ford is making hay about is Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where Mark Fields is to deliver the keynote address, and undoubtedly talk about FordPass and connected mobility.
Chicago is typically a truck-heavy show, and we’ve already seen the Chevrolet announcement, plus we’re expecting news from both Toyota and Ram pertaining to trucks. But as for the Ford Trucks, it looks like they’re going to be pretty low-key.
