Listen Up! This May Very Well Be the Best Sounding Ford F-100 Ever!
Ratty Ford F-100 pickup, or 1968 Trans-Am racecar? If you had to decide on sound alone, you would think this was a Trans-Am racecar.
Wake the neighbors, annoy the family, embarrass your wife, who cares, this truck sounds freaking awesome. God Bless America! This Ford F-100 is a rolling example of why a lot of people just can’t get behind the push for EVs. Sure, there are companies that are trying to make electric vehicles sound better, but you just can’t beat the real thing. And this F-100 is about as real as it gets. We have heard a lot of great sounding truck exhausts but this one very well may be the best-sounding one ever.
A video was recently posted to Thecraig909 YouTube channel that lets us hear this amazing truck with the new exhaust for the first time. Watch the video with your eyes closed. You would swear that you were listening to a Trans-Am race from back in 1968. This truck sounds absolutely epic. You can not only hear the amazing sound but almost feel the vibration of all that mechanical awesomeness that is taking place. Sure, it probably gets lousy gas mileage, but we would happily stop at the pumps every 100 miles so that we could enjoy this sound forever.
The Power
This Ford F-100 has been built up over the years. And certainly, it is more than just an exhaust that contributes to the sound this thing makes. Under the well-patinaed hood lies a fully built V8 with all sorts of goodies. It probably makes north of 500 horsepower. So that is a good starting point when you want a good sounding truck. And the exhaust the truck originally had was not bad. In fact, most people who heard the old system thought that was the best sounding truck ever. Until they heard this new setup.
Ford F-100 Exhaust
Too much is never enough. The owner decided to install a stainless X-pipe and a 2.5-inch exhaust from Black Widow Exhaust. This exhaust is really just a straight pipe with virtually no restriction at all. What you hear is essentially unfiltered V8 goodness. If a regular ‘loud exhaust’ is the equivalent of cranking up Metallica on your home stereo system, this Black Widow setup is like sitting in the front row of a live concert. It is raw, raucous, and just an experience. The neighbors might not think so but as long as you are not running this thing all hours of the night you should be fine. The other crazy thing is how affordable this setup is. The exhaust and X-pipe will cost you less than 200 bucks. No need to spend thousands of dollars if you want the most aggressive sound.
The Bad News
Project cars and trucks never go smoothly. While out doing some test runs with the new exhaust the engine gives out and limps back home. It was a sad end for such a thrill ride. But we are sure this is not the end. The engine will get fixed and be up and running again. It has to because the world needs this sound. Is this the best sounding Ford F-100 truck you ever heard?
