Jay Leno and George W. Bush Talk F-150s: Throwback Thursday
Comedian visit’s former President’s ranch while discussing history of America’s most popular truck.
Jay Leno is a massive car enthusiast, and that is certainly no secret. His TV show Jay Leno’s Garage has a whole list of A-list celebrity guests in its wake. His guest list includes the likes of Tim Allen, John Travolta, Matt Damon, and now even a former US president.
In this clip posted to the CNBC Prime youtube channel, Leno meets up with former US President George W Bush. Given that this episode is about the F-150, it only makes sense to team up with the Texas native Bush to discuss the best-selling truck in America.
“These trucks are the common vehicle for a lot of rural Texas and a lot of people still living in rural Texas,” says Bush
Bush’s truck of choice is a 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch Edition. If you know the trucks, you may know they are known for being the ultimate in luxury in terms of the F-150. One of the major highlights of the King Ranch is the plush leather seats. However, many may not know about the history of the name.
“If you’re from Texas you probably know that the King Ranch model is named after a famous Texan named Richard King, who owned a legendary cattle ranch,” says Leno
Since presidents lose their privilege to drive, Bush finds himself enjoying his truck on his own property. He and his wife Laura Bush use the truck for hauling everything from trees to compost with the F-150. Having those comfortable King Ranch seats makes cruising around their 1,600 acres of property beautiful and relaxing.
“I have not driven on a road since 93,” says Bush.
It’s always interesting to see what former US presidents do with their time now. Bush is still very active with various programs to re-introduce disabled veterans to everyday life. In fact, he uses his property as a venue for multiple different events. As Leno mentions, they had just finished a biking event where Bush himself biked over fifty miles on a track they built on the property. We have to applaud Bush for his continued service to the country and, of course, his excellent taste in trucks.
