Ford & History Channel Host Truck Weekend in America, Nov. 10 & 11

TV event features Ford trucks being badass, including climbing a mountain of crushed cars & tearing through a snake-infested swamp!

Beginning Saturday, November 10, the History Channel and Ford F-Series are launching Truck Weekend in America, a six-hour prime-time programming event that puts the automaker at the center of original storytelling throughout the weekend. This first-of-its-kind collaboration highlights Ford’s truck legacy of toughness, heritage, and performance. After all, the Ford F-Series is America’s best-selling truck for 41 straight years and best-selling vehicle for 36 straight years.

“More than a century ago Ford put America on wheels, and today our trucks are a vital part of the way people work, play, and live,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford’s V.P. of U.S. Marketing. “Truck Weekend in America is a tribute to the passion of our engineers as well as our customers, and to both the history and the future of the pickup truck.”

In Truck Weekend in America, it’s truck versus terrain as 50 truck owners from across the United States compete in grueling challenges that test their ingenuity and driving ability. Each episode of this self-contained competition series features five drivers in their personal customized trucks and jeeps going head to head in three challenges, each testing a different vehicle attribute: speed, strength, and handling.

Between each challenge competitors demonstrate their craftsmanship by re-engineering their trucks for the next round. The last two finalists standing then take on a three-mile, truck-killing obstacle course known as “The Green Hell,” which challenges trucks and drivers to fly off jumps, climb a mountain of crushed cars, and tear through a snake-infested swamp. Five trucks will enter to compete, but only one can win and take home the prize money and the title of “Truck Night Champion.”

‘Truck Weekend in America is a tribute to the passion of our engineers as well as our customers, and to both the history and the future of the pickup truck.’

Helping the competitors are four expert coaches: desert racing champion and truck builder, “Pete Sohren; extreme sports pioneer and dirt track racer, Glen Plake; truck builder and master fabricator, Abe Wine and rock-crawling champion and master fabricator, Rob Park. These four experts offer tough love and their professional perspective on each contender’s strategy and performance.
