No longer do you need to purchase a Ford Police Interceptor to get the police protecting tech that comes OEM with it. Police equipment installers can now buy the license from Ford to install the same technology for all police vehicles.

The technology is actually an expansion of the same systems used in parking assistance called Surveillance Mode.

Ford Police Interceptor Utility Vehicle

With the Police Interceptor in park and Surveillance Mode on, the radars and rear-view camera at the back of the Interceptors are turned on.

When someone approaches the vehicle from the rear the backup alarm sounds, windows roll up, and the doors lock. This gives an officer time to look up and assess the situation to make sure someone isn’t sneaking up to do no good.

“Unfortunately, there are people with bad intentions who sneak up on police officers,” Ford Police and Ambulance Fleet Supervisor says, “We want to assist with and improve the security of all police officers whether they are using a Ford Police Interceptor or a competitive vehicle.”
