Ford Excursion 6×6 Limo Is One of the Coolest, Craziest Builds We’ve Ever Seen

Though its build quality is a bit sketchy, this wild Ford Excursion 6×6 limo proves to be good enough to make a long road trip.

While crazy automotive builds existed before the internet came along, its presence has only encouraged folks to create more of them, whether that be to show off one’s skills and creativity, drive clicks to videos, or make a few bucks by entertaining the masses. As a result, we’ve seen more than a few crazy custom Blue Oval-based truck builds over the years, some of which are truly repulsive, while others are downright cool, with plenty more in between. However, this wild Ford Excursion 6×6 limo with a pickup bed recently purchased by the folks behind the YouTube channel Grind Hard Plumbing Co certainly fits the bill as one of the coolest, craziest builds we’ve ever come across.

The team flew out to Salt Lake City, Utah recently to purchase this Ford Excursion 6×6 limo, because truthfully, who wouldn’t want a beast like this sitting in their driveway? The idea was that they could drive it home afterwards, essentially living in it for a couple of days, which seems both risky and potentially hilarious given the fact that they had never even see the mile-long limo in person before they showed up to purchase it.

Luckily for them, the build seems to be rather intact, with four bench seats adorning the elongated passenger area in the rear. This giant rig is also powered by Ford’s legendary 7.3-liter Power Stroke diesel, which needs all of its torque to move not only this thing’s gigantic mass, but also six driven wheels, supported by a total of seven driveshafts and two transfer cases. According to the owner, it actually drives quite nicely, however – “like a boat,” he says, because it takes a second for input to reach the rear wheels, which are seemingly miles away.

The biggest problem, it seems, is that this limo’s tires are worn out, with one already bulging. But once the team gets out on the highway, the massive Excursion limo also quickly reveals that it needs some suspension work as well, given the insane amount of play in the steering wheel. Before long, as expected, one of the worn out tires explodes, making this trip just about as adventurous as the team expected it to be. But that’s nothing a quick trip to the tire store can’t solve.

Upon closer inspection, this Ford Excursion limo has boatloads of bondo and rust throughout and some questionable welding work, but that doesn’t dampen the crew’s spirits one bit. Rather, they still had the trip of a lifetime, the kind that won’t be easily forgotten. And, perhaps more importantly, they now own a massive limo with questionable build quality that should lead to some more entertaining content in the near future.
