Ford “Confirms” Raptor During Ford Performance Announcement
During a press event in Dearborn, Ford announced that all of their performance divisions would fall under one roof called Ford Performance. This means that SVT in America, Ford RS in Europe, and all of their racing programs would be under one roof and run by one executive.
During this announcement, Raj Nair, Ford’s head of global product, mentioned that both the new Focus RS and the Ford F-150 SVT Raptor would fall under this umbrella.
While we believe very strongly that we’ll see a Raptor at the Detroit auto show next month, we haven’t heard a confirmation from the manufacturer publicly that a new Raptor is coming. This announcement, to us, confirms that there is a Raptor in the pipeline and that we will see it soon.
We saw the prototypes testing earlier in the year. Also, the Raptor was one of the most profitable trucks Ford sold. It only makes sense to see another one. We’re more concerned with what will power this truck than whether or not it will actually be produced.
Unfortunately, the graphic that Mr. Nair showed the media had a 2014 Raptor shown, so we still have no idea what the final product will look like. It is shaping up to be a pretty active North American International Auto Show for Ford.
Luckily, they rent out Joe Louis Arena for their product announcements, so there should be plenty of space to show off all of the Raptor goodness, along with the Ford Focus RS, Shelby GT350 R, and whatever else they have in store!
