It doesn’t take much to make an OBS PowerStroke into a great truck, even with over 200,000 miles on the clock.

Who doesn’t love OBS Ford trucks? If you don’t you’re probably on the wrong website. One of our members, Khan, recently posted a thread detailing over three years of adventures and upgrades with his OBS, a 1995 Ford F-250 with an extended cab and a long bed.

Khan bought the truck out of Redding, California, with his wife handling the deal while he wrapped things up with the USAF in Okinawa, Japan. After arriving stateside, he and his wife took the truck on a cross-country road drip to their new home and duty station in Florida.

On its way, the E4OD transmission gave out, as well as the aftermarket oil crossover tube he had installed before the trip. After installing a new transmission — and topping off the oil periodically — the truck made it to Florida safe and sound. Once he was settled in, Khan got started fixing the truck up to his liking.

Like New Again

With well over 200,000 miles on the odometer, this truck was more than ready for a mechanical refresh. While he was in there, Khan performed a few choice upgrades, like a cold air intake and a free-flowing 4″ exhaust.

He also took the opportunity to clean things up a bit, treating a few key parts like the valve covers and grille to a fresh paint job.  Being from California, the truck looks great, to begin with, but taking care of the small details really made this truck shine.

Knowledge is power, and more information about how your truck is running is always a good thing. Khan installed a selection of aftermarket gauges and wired them into the truck’s harness; replacing worn-out connectors and wiring as he went.

As these trucks age, the wiring really can become a weak point, so taking care of the issue while adding in the extra gauges was a great idea. Khan also upgraded the cooling system with an aluminum radiator.

With several basic bolt-ons installed, a tune made a lot of sense. Khan installed a Dieselsite tuner on the A-pillar, alongside his auxiliary gauges.

Khan still has plenty of work to keep him occupied. We’re enjoying the journey on our end. With as great as the truck looks and runs now, we can’t wait to see what Khan does next.
