Ford F-250 did this burnout on Christmas Day, but folks of all religions can enjoy this smoke show.
People celebrate the various winter holidays in different ways and this 1969 Ford F-250 owner celebrates Christmas with a big, smoky burnout. This week’s Tire Smokin’ Tuesday video comes to us from the Bamboozel96 YouTube channel and it features this classic, big block F-Series putting on a fantastic holiday smoke show. It only spins one tire, but that one tire makes enough smoke to make for a cool little video.
F-250 Camper Special
There aren’t many details included with this video, but in searching around the channel, we found some of the key details on this truck. It is a 1969 F-250 Camper Special with the 390-cubic inch big block V8. That engine sent 255 horsepower towards the rear wheels by means of a C6 automatic transmission and, in this case, an open rear differential.
When we take everything that we can see into account, we would guess that this classic F-250 is relatively stock. The exhaust seems to be a bit louder than we would expect from a 1969 F-250, but the odds are good that this truck is running on near-stock power. Luckily, that big block makes plenty of torque to roast one rear tire.
Quick and Smoky
The video begins with the 1969 Ford F-250 Camper Special sitting between two buildings at idle. After a few seconds, the driver climbs into the throttle while holding the brakes, causing the driver’s side rear tire to begin spinning. Smoke almost immediately begins to pour off of the tire and within a few seconds, the back end of the old truck is completely engulfed in molten tire dust.
The entire truck is nearly surrounded in smoke when the driver lets off of the brakes, allowing the old F-250 to creep forward with the tires ablaze. The tire continues to smoke as the truck inches past the camera, with chunks of what appears to be the insides of the tire spraying through the air.
The burnout is short, but smoky, making this a great way to celebrate the winter holiday, regardless of your religion. Best of all, if you don’t celebrate any holiday at this time of year, you can just enjoy a nice burnout with the soundtrack of a classic big block V8.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.
"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.
"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.
