Coroner Gets Drop-dead Beautiful Ford F-150

Needing a reliable vehicle to transport his, um, very special cargo, coroner gets a F-150 on the job.

The municipal vehicles in Franklin County, Washington just got a new upgrade for a very good reason. County coroner Curtis McGary wanted to streamline the process of transporting bodies to the morgue. To aid him in doing this task he has a new team member, a $40,000 Ford F-150.

McGary was frustrated by the system the county had been using, and the unnecessary costs. Previously law enforcement was tasked with waiting with the remains until a funeral home could arrive. They would transport the body to the Benton County morgue for an autopsy, or to a funeral home. McGary found this a waste of money, time, and resources. It needed to bite the dust.

According to the Tri-City Herald, the coroner’s office had three vehicles, but many were knocking on death’s door, or unable to handle varying terrain. They needed a reliable four-wheel drive vehicle would have no problem accessing remote areas in the county, year round.

The new truck will save the county a great deal of money as all transport will be handled in-house and they will no longer need to use third-party transportation, who would charge the county about $325 per each transfer.

“That can be an expensive proposition for the county… It’s clear that we need some vehicle to transport those remains,” County Administrator Keith Johnson said.

The F-150 will not only save money, but provide a reliable method of caring for the deceased.

And this might just be the perfect track to put on when the truck is on the job.
