The first vehicle we drive always holds a special place in our hearts, doesn’t it? FTE member paintslinga2010 drove his 1989 F-250 XLT Lariat 4×4 through high school after it was passed down to him by his great grandfather.

After he graduated from high school and purchased a 1994 5.0 Mustang, he passed the rig down to his younger brother. He drove it for about two months before hitting a deer, and the sorry Ford was left sitting in 2012.

Of course, it was not doomed to stay that way. Paintslinga2010 has picked up his wrench once more in order to rejuvenate the old Ford. He has already replaced the fender that was destroyed in the wreck and has pulled the core bumper and core support, which he anticipates will need to be replaced.

He also has already pulled the motor (which surprisingly only has approximately 50k miles) in what we’re sure was a rather interesting escapade, considering it involved him and a friend getting together to remove it with a tractor that had no brakes.

This is a weekend build, so it won’t be moving as quickly as some on the site. However, paintslinga2010 has already proceeded to clean and unbolt parts on the engine, so things are clearly moving forward! Go drop by his build thread and show your support!
