The Beast: 1978 Ford F-250 4×4 Rebuild
Sometimes we do something well. Maybe not perfect, but well. Good enough. To the point where the job looks good, feels good, and works flawlessly despite not being completely perfect. Sometimes it’s perfectly fine to leave something like this, whereas other times it’s good to go in and fix what isn’t quite right in the future.
As for today’s build thread, we get to take a look at a truck that fits this description well. Having been completely rebuilt, from the frame up, back in 1996, the ride has finally hit the point where it needs to be built up again. And those little mistakes are finally rearing their ugly heads!
Of course, what a good time to fix them! FTE member weldman. His dad had purchased the truck the year before he was born, and, after the first rebuild, he was able to drive it throughout high school. The 1978 Ford F-250 definitely holds a special place in his heart, and it’s obvious as to why! Of course, building up a sentimental ride is one of the best types of builds out there, and we can’t wait to see the outcome!
While the truck still looks pretty good, there are some problems that need to be addressed in this second build. Namely, the tailgate is falling apart, the gas doors are bubbling out, rust has formed around the front and driver’s bedside, as well as an abundance of rust in the bed.
