2024 Mustang Configurator

Fantasy Mustang season is here. The 2024 Mustang configurator is live, and you can now see how much your dream Mustang will cost.

The 2024 Ford Mustang configurator is now live. So, you can officially begin configuring your dream Mustang. All the options are listed along with pricing so you know exactly how much this dream is going to cost you. Minus of course any dealer markups. A base Mustang in 2024 will cost $32,515 with the $1,595 destination charge. A Mustang GT will cost you $43,090 with destination. The Dark Horse will set you back at least $60,865. Although that model and the Dark Horse Premium are both labeled as ‘Limited Availability’ which does not bode well for enthusiasts.

Another thing that is limited is the number of images available to view your new Mustang build. As I played around with the configurator, I saw only one exterior view and one interior view of the car. Additionally, many options do not reflect visually on the car I was building. For example, the Nite Pony Package, and Bronze Appearance Package did not change the look of the car at all. I am sure that will all get worked out soon. Also, all the cars on the configurator are coupes. The convertibles were not live at the time of this writing. For now, there is plenty to geek out about with what we can see.

Dark Horse Premium

Interior

Let’s start at the top. I jumped right to the Dark Horse Premium, because, why not? I configured one that came in at around $78,000. That stunning Blue Ember Metallic paint will cost $1,250. A painted racing stripe described as: Tarnish Dark High Gloss/Tuxedo Gloss Black with Pattern Painted Stripes cost a whopping $5,495. If you want the fastest version you will need to pony up (bad pun sorry) $1,595 for the 10-speed automatic. Personally I would save the cash and get the TREMEC 6-speed. The Dark Horse Handling Package is another big ticket item at $4,500. This gets you the magnetic damping, rear spoiler with Gurney Flap, special wheels with larger tires, and other items. Leather RECARO seats will be another $1,650. That brought my build up to $77,650. That is about two grand less than a base GT500.

Mustang GT

Yellow GT

If you don’t have that kind of coin to drop on your Mustang you can get yourself a lovely GT for about half the price. A Yellow Splash Metallic GT with the Performance Package will cost $48,085. The Performance Package is pricey at $4,995 but it comes with a slew of features. Most notably, larger wheels, Brembo brakes, rear wing, TORSEN diff, a larger sway bar and a strut tower brace. But watch your options. I did manage to tack on about $12,000 in options on top of the base GT.

Notable Options

Dark Horse

A few things I noticed while playing with the 2024 Mustang configurator. You need to step up to the Dark Horse Premium to select the Blue Ember Metallic paint. It is not an option on the standard Dark Horse. But even with that color the Dark Horse Premium only has 9 color options compared to 11 on the lesser trims. No Rapid Red or Yellow Splash for the Dark Horse. Not sure if it is due to supply chain issues or just an oversight on the first release of the configurator, but I did not see the Carbon Fiber wheel option for the Dark Horse. If it was available, I am sure that would push the price well over $80K.

The Mustang GT engine is rated at 450 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque per the configurator. We were expecting 480 horsepower. This is hopefully due to the configurator not being accurate. There are no power ratings listed for the Dark Horse engine.

Build Away

Configurator

It is not perfect but the configurator is there and will at least give you an idea of what you can expect from the new 2024 Mustang. We apologize in advance for all the hours you are about to waste virtually building yours. Enjoy!
