2023 Ford Super Duty Arrives with 4 Engines, New Styling, and TONS of New Technology
Let’s get to work. The 2023 Ford Super Duty has been refreshed to offer the highest levels of work capability and productivity ever.
The all-new 2023 Ford Super Duty is here. And it is here to work. The Super Duty has always been about getting the job done. And the redesigned 2023 models will bring more features that will help you get the job done than ever before. This includes two new engines. There is an all-new 6.8L V8 gasoline engine as well as a new high-output 6.7L Power Stroke diesel. And as exciting as the new engines are, the good news doesn’t stop there.
This will be the first pickup in the U.S. with embedded 5G capability. Pro Power Onboard will give you enough juice to power a jobsite. And for those really big jobs you will want the new Ford Pro Upfit Integration System. This will allow you to add and operate special equipment such as cranes easier than ever. “From F-250 pickup to the F-600 utility truck, Super Duty is the badge America’s hardest-working men and women have come to trust to get the toughest jobs done,” said Jim Farley, Ford president and CEO. “Super Duty customers are builders–the backbone of our communities and our economy. We poured every ounce of know-how and ingenuity we have into developing the truck of their dreams–smarter, more powerful, full of clever features and technology.”

Super Engines
There are four engine options in the 2023 Super Duty. The new standard engine is a 6.8L V8 gas engine. The 7.3L V8 gas engine received an improved intake and tuning. The 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel can now go longer between oil changes. And there is a brand new 6.7L High Output Power Stroke V8 diesel that will come with a unique turbo, upgraded exhaust manifolds, and special tuning. It aims to offer the best horsepower and torque in the class.
Unfortunately, horsepower and torque figures remain a mystery.
Every Super Duty will use a 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission. And every chassis cab model comes standard with a power takeoff connection to run added equipment, like boom lifts and plows. Four-wheel drive is now standard on XLT models and above.
Super Duty
The truck is about work, so it is no surprise that many of the upgrades focus on making the new Super Duty an even more valuable work partner. First, Ford revised the bedsides and rear bumpers to add integrated steps along with a new available tailgate step that reaches closer to the ground. Yeah, it looks a bit like a Chevy, but it’s hard to argue against the ergonomics involved. The beds, by the way, are still available in either 6-foot or 8-foot configurations.
Need more power on your job site? The available Pro Power Onboard provides 2.0-kilowatts of output with outlets mounted inside the truck and cargo box. To put that power in perspective the average full-size refrigerator uses about 500 watts. So, you could power four of them from the back of your Super Duty.
Also,l Ford Pro Upfit Integration System (UIS) is a digital solution that gives aftermarket equipment makers access to the Super Duty’s electrical system and signals. This allows a seamless integration of hardware into the truck’s digital displays. Equipment makers can add digital buttons that will allow drivers to operate equipment from inside the truck.
Super Towing
96 percent of heavy-duty pickup truck owners tow. The 2023 Super Duty has this in mind to make for the best towing experience possible with targeted best-in-class towing for each of the powertrains. Available onboard scales will estimate cargo weight in real-time. It will also provide guidance on trailer tongue weight distribution. There is a 360-degree trailer camera system that offers a bird’s-eye view of the trailer. A blind spot information system for fifth-wheel and goosenecks can be attached to a trailer.
Ford also offers an industry-first tailgate down camera and reverse sensing system that will provide visible and audible alerts even when backing up with the tailgate down. Pro Trailer Assist will automatically back the truck up and align the hitch ball to the receiver.
And finally, there is Trailer Navigation. This plots routes that can be safely navigated with given trailer dimensions and weight to avoid potential issues with low bridges and tight turns. With the 2023 Super Duty towing has never been easier.
Super Technology
The all-new Super Duty is loaded with tech. It is the first pickup truck in the U.S. with embedded 5G capability to provide faster mapping, navigation, and music downloads. It can also provide a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices. Additional technology includes Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go Lane Centering. Front and Rear Brake assist. There is a full-color head-up display. “The all-new Super Duty takes connectivity to the max with Ford Pro, the dedicated business focused on maximizing uptime, accelerating productivity, and lowering costs for commercial customers with a suite of connected vehicles, software, services, and financing.”
Clark Kent
Much like Superman the Ford Super Duty has an alter ego when not at work. Hose down the Super Duty when you get home and especially in Limited trim it will take you in supreme comfort to the restaurant of your choice to celebrate the end of a hard day at work. LED headlights are available on all trim levels. There are new STX, Sport, and Black appearance packages for those that want a bit more style. Inside there is an 8-inch center display on the XL model and a 12-inch display on all higher trims. A customizable 12-inch center digital instrument cluster is standard. There are max recline seats that fold nearly horizontal if you need a nap. There is an optional 1,080-watt, 18-speaker B&O Unleashed Sound System by Bang & Olufsen if the standard 640-watt system is not enough for you.
Alexa Built-in with complimentary connectivity to Alexa for up to three years is also included. The point is this truck is very much like the Man of Steel. Super when it needs to be but more than capable of being a humble companion when you want. The only difference is the new Super Duty has no kryptonite. There is nothing the 2023 Super Duty can’t do.
Prices and Specs
The all-new Super Duty is built in the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville, Kentucky, and Ohio Assembly Plant in Avon Lake, Ohio. The all-new Ford F-Series Super Duty goes on sale in early 2023. Pricing and final engine specifications will be announced closer to the on-sale date.
