Ford-Powered De Tomaso Mangusta Legacy Concept
This is the updated and modernized version of the Delorean from Back-to-the-Future, right? Well, it’s not, even though it looks like it should be. This is the De Tomaso Mangusta Legacy Concept by student designer Maxime de Keiser.
Based on the Italian built De Tomaso Pantera, the De Tomaso Mangusta Legacy Concept combines the old with a bit of the new. The original De Tomaso Pantera smashed onto the scene with a panache and style that added elegance and aggression in a 1980’s sports car.
After the Pantera, the Mangusta became the more refined and less aggressive sports car that had a lean, long and beautiful design.
The De Tomaso Mangusta Legacy Concept clearly steals some of its rear quarter panel work and side window treatments from the Lamborghini Diablo.
The flat hood and the aggressive angry-eyebrow headlight and taillight treatment give the car a cat-like appearance and the massive air intakes and wide platform give it the requisite supercar aesthetic.
Currently, this concept resides only in the computer generated world but could serve as a great spark for a brand comeback if proper funding is achieved.
