The Ford GT Humiliates the Competition and Continues Podium Streak

The NO.67 Ford GT racing machine of Richard Westbrook and Ryan Briscoe managed to score a well-deserved third spot in the podium after a chaotic and mega-competitive race day at Lime Rock Park.

Both drivers confessed that it was one of the most hard-fought races of the year, but with excellent pit stops from the Team Ganassi crew, and excellent fuel mileage from the Ford EcoBoost engine, it gave them the slight edge necessary to come in third, and continue the streak of podium finishes at every race since Laguna Seca in May.

“The run continues,” Westbrook said. “It wasn’t a win, but we should be really proud of ourselves with this podium. It was the first time here for the team in this car, and we weren’t able to test here, so it’s another part of the learning process. To come away still in the hunt for the championship, I’ll take that.”

“It was a really hard-fought race,” Briscoe said. “We had a little first-lap incident that put us at the back of the field, so it was a great fight to get back up to the front.”

The NO. 66 sister car of Dirk Muller and Joey hand finished a hard-fought 5th place overall, but still had better luck than their Ford GT European counterparts, which saw their vehicle catch on fire at a routine pit stop.

Good job, team!
