Classic Ford Falcon Ranchero Has One Rockin’ Story to Tell

Nash Guitars passion project produces a perfectly matching Ranchero and retro-styled guitar in one cool package.

Ford’s Ranchero was a pretty big success on the sales charts, offering up pickup truck utility in a passenger car body. The Blue Oval sold over a half-million Rancheros over a 22-year span, even though they varied in size quite a bit. Ford’s Falcon Ranchero was the nifty, stylish, compact hauler, of course. And this particular ’65, which we spotted over at Mecum Auctions, isn’t just a fine looking example of the breed. It has quite an interesting story behind it, too.

That’s because it was previously owned by Bill Nash of Nash Guitars fame. The guitar-maker is known for his retro electric guitar styling inspired by axes from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s. Many of them are even produced complete with “patina,” looking like they actually hail from those decades. So it makes perfect sense that Nash would want to build a classic car to match one of his guitars, and that’s exactly the purpose behind this project.

The Ranchero was given a full restoration, including its fresh Sonic Blue and Vintage White two-tone paint. Those hues perfectly match its accompanying Nashguitar Model T57 guitar, too. Other than the paint and some custom wheels and tires, the Falcon Ranchero remains largely original. Including its 200 cubic-inch powerplant and 3-speed manual transmission. But as you might imagine, Nash invested in a solid stereo system for the car/truck. Inside the little cab, you’ll find a modern head unit, speakers, a subwoofer, and 400 watts of power.

Nash accumulated just 5,000 miles on his passion project prior to putting it up for sale. And we can’t imagine this cool retro ride will have a hard time finding a new home. Fans of music and guitar heads will undoubtedly jump at the chance to own such a cool pair. Heck, if we had any sort of musical talent, we sure would. Just imagine using this Ranchero to haul your equipment around town when you’re out playing shows.

Classic cars and rock n’ roll go together like peanut butter and jelly, after all. And in the case of this ravishing Ranchero and its matching guitar, it’s pretty easy to see why.
