8 Truckloads of Christmas Spirit

Christmas is the time to be generous and give gifts to those you love, and also those less fortunate than you. It doesn't take long to find stories around the internet of Ford trucks bringing a truckload of Christmas joy to the community. Here's a few we found.

1. St. Elias Church Gives a Truckload of Bikes

What child doesn't want a new bike for Christmas? The congregation of the St. Elias Orthodox Church in Atlanta, GA took up a collection and bought a whole truckload of bikes to donate in 2007, and Larry Najour and his daughter Kristin volunteered to load up the F-150 and deliver them. The donations are part of the Christmas charity program of the neighboring St. John The Wondermaker church, who run a special holiday program, on top of their help for the needy all year round.

2. Crowley Auto Group Truckload of Toys to Operation E.L.F.

Connecticut National Guard Operation E.L.F. is a charity that brings gifts and joy to military service members and their families and has every year since 2003. These pictures are from 2006 when they had a big Christmas party for the kids of local service members who were on deployment and couldn't get home for the holidays. Not only was Santa there, but there were donated gifts for the kids, arts and crafts, story time, and more. Older kids and adult volunteers got together to wrap presents for the party, as well as to send out to other needy families who couldn't make it. The Crowley Auto Group employees (standing in front of the truck) loaded up a new shiny red F-250 full of toys to donate, as well as let the kids play on; kids love trucks!

3. Fellowship Baptist Church Donates Gifts and Time

These two men from Fellowship Baptist Church in Missouri may look tough, but they have warm hearts big enough to melt all the snow in the Dakotas. That truck is loaded to the roof with gifts the church collected and delivered to the Lakota Baptist Church, serving the Native American reservation in Pine Ridge, SD. Just next to the truck you can barely see the van loaded with additional volunteers who went with them to help fix up the Lakota church and distribute the gifts.

4. Prestige Ford Helps Domestic Violence Victims

Prestige Ford, serving Garland and the greater Dallas, TX area, loaded up a big truckload of gifts and necessities and delivered them to the New Beginning Center in 2014 to help victims of domestic violence. The center helps women and children in abusive situations to get their lives back together and get out on their own. Pictured are Kate Goberg, the community relations director at Prestige, and Cindy Turek CEO of New Beginnings. It is hard enough to get out of an abusive situation, and the stress of the holidays can make things even worse, so a Christmas present can add a little bit of happiness in an otherwise bleak season.

5. Canadian Students Collect for Knights of Columbus

Meanwhile in Canada, school kids from OES in Oliver, British Columbia collected toys, food, and winter necessities for the local Knights of Columbus charity. It may have only taken one Ford F-150 to carry the load, but it took 7 girls to unload it. The Me to We project packed up over 200 boxes to deliver to needy families. If you are wondering, the Ford F-150 XTR is what the Canadians call the XLT with the chrome appearance package.

6. Another Canadian Truckload

Two truckloads of toys, clothes and holiday cheer were collected and delivered in the back of Ford trucks to the Nawican Friendship Centre, in Dawson's Creek, BC, Canada by concerned citizens. Nawican is a word created by combining native, white, and Canadian, and is a group dedicated to bringing together everyone and creating a community. Starklight Press, and other local businesses organized the event, and the mayor and other political bigwigs also helped out by passing out gifts and serving meals to the needy.

7. Expedition Full of Gifts for Eastern Navajo Children

Every year, people get together and bring the neediest families in the Eastern Navajo Nation gifts for Christmas. If you want to help, you can find out more at their website. From the look of the pictures, they bought out a whole Walmart toy department and packed that Ford Expedition so full you can barely close the doors, and that is not a small SUV! For more than 20 years the Eastern Navajo Child Drive has collected food, toys and other items from the four corners region of New Mexico, as well as a bit of Arizona, Utah, and Colorado.

8. Santa's Load of Coal for this Year

Power plants may have switched from coal to natural gas, but the big man up north still needs his supply for those on the naughty list. This picture is just one of several trucks headed to the North Pole for delivery on Christmas Eve. The custom Westech build dump body is the biggest of its kind and is mounted to a ultra-class Liebherr T282C chassis, to carry 447 tons (894,000lbs!) of coal in one load. That truck carries enough to fill 4 1/2 railroad cars, and almost every naughty person's stocking in North America. The Ford Expedition in front of it looks like a tow in comparison. The Casper, WY Star Tribune has the scoop on this mammoth truck.
