2. 1930s Police Cars

Introducing the flathead V8 in the Model B, this 1932 police car was the first low-priced and mass-marketed. The 1934 Model 40B had a hp of 85, and it so happens to be famous for being Bonnie and Clyde's "death car."

3. 1950s Police Cars

Advertising that the 1950s police cars had a "new feel for speed, acceleration, safety and comfort," this sedan came equipped with 100 hp V8. Up until the 60's, police departments had a choice between the Mainline, Fairlane and Custom vehicles.

4. 1960s Galaxie

The Galaxie pushed away from the round style of the 50s, and attached to its new looks came a V8 with 400 hp. The Galaxie 500 is also known as Andy Griffith's squad car from The Andy Griffith Show.

5. 1970s Police Cars

The 1970s came with the Ford Torino and the Custom. Both strutted the V8, but the Custom had the option of a 289 V8 or 351 V8. The LTD was also used in places such as Texas in the late 70s.

6. 1980-90s Crown Victoria

The Crown Victoria was the jewel all of the 80s and the 90s. Progressing from the LTD Crown Victoria (1979-1991), to the Crown Victoria (1992-1997), to the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor (1998-2011) and finally Crown Victoria's P71 Police Interceptor, it was among the most popular and most used squad car.

7. 2016 Lineup

While the Police Interceptor is still a choice (either in Sedan or Utility), Ford also has many other options on the list. This includes the Special Service Vehicles and Prisoner Transports, which have come a long way since the Model T. One such Special Service Vehicle is the Ford's F-150 XL, available in either the Supercab or Supercrew.

8. The Future

Ford's past police vehicles is nothing compared to what the future holds for drivers on the road. Ford has always understood what police officers have needed in the past and they are not about to stop now. For that reason, it's Utility vehicle is going is going to be the most stealth police car on the road. Ford's new police vehicles will hide the red-and-blue lights inside the front visors as well as inside spoilers on unmarked police cars. This is bad news for those who have a need for speed.
