Moving on up...or over

Hey fellas, well I went and did it. I purchased an early '99 yesterday, so I guess I no longer welcome on the OBS side...LOL! This has been my home though for 5 years, so I don't plan on going anywhere. I got a REALLY nice truck from a good owner, so I am pretty darn happy. Thanks for ALL of the help over the years. I'll still need it I am sure. I'll miss the OBS, but with life direction and all of that, this was a good move for me.

Nice truck. I just hope you don't regret losing the extra room of the crew cab.

I know right? They are some old gauges that say "western diesel" on them. I may swap them out for isspro.

I don't think we will. We test fit our car seats and they fit pretty well. I would've regret it more if I had found a crew cab but gone to an automatic, because that's all I could find.

Did the same thing last month. Picked up an early 99 F250 with low miles. Flew to Arizona and drove it back to Oregon, about 1200 miles. Yea, I knew the guy who owned it, my brother-in-law so it was a no brainier for me. And the price was to good to pass up. Been eyeing it for years.

Really like the way it drives and handles. Power mirrors are insane, when needed. Think my 97 had a bit more pep on cold takeoff but once warmed up a bit, just a few miles, the 99 screams.

Put a lot of work, sweat and blood (literately) on the 97 but it was time to move on. Not much of a move (year wise) but the price and low miles was too good to pass up. Mine (99) is pretty much stock except for cold air intake. Brother-in-law said biggest improvement was cold air intake, as far as performance. Stock injectors are AB, I believe, which are a bit noisier than my 97, I don't care. Later model injectors are AD which I've read are a bit quieter.

Enjoy your new rig.

Jim, everything you mentioned is pretty much where I am at with this truck. It doesn't need too much other than what I want to do to it!

Other than that, it came with an AFE CAI that has a dry washable filter. I know everyone does the 6637, but I'll prolly leave this one. The turbo looks and feels brand new, so it's doing its job. And good grief is it comfortable and quiet. I am pretty darn happy. Also, mine is pretty quiet injector wise...not near as noisy as my last OBS...go figure?

There is nothing wrong with the AFE. Some say it flows more? With the shield around it, its quieter then the 6637 IMHO.

Agreed! Nothing wrong with mine either. The only reason I'd recommend the 6637 is because the AFE costs something like $300. But since somebody else paid that and not me, it's going to stay.

My thoughts exactly Darrin. I gotta clean it today in a major way.

Well I got home last night after 5 hours in the truck. I gotta say I am stoked stoked STOKED. The engine bay needs a good cleaning, which will happen this weekend. I wiped down the interior at the hotel yesterday morning before hitting the road. I really can't find any dirt. Usually you find it in the AC vents and in every crack on a 17 year old truck, but not this one. Usually, SOP for me is to dismantle the entire interior and deep clean, but this truck just doesn't need it and I am glad for it. It'll get vacuumed out today and I'll wipe down the leather with some good leather conditioner. It's going to be my ranch/towing/DD so I am not going to worry too much about keeping it pristine other than mechanically and what I normally do with any of my trucks.

Anyways, I'll get some interior pics up in a bit. Thanks for following. Now to get to work on this engine bay. Arizona dust and small oil leaks sure make a mess.
