2017 Front Camera F350 - Factory add

All,

New 2017 F350 owner and purchased truck WITHOUT front Camera but it does have all the cameras except the side and front camera. I would like to add the FACTORY camera to the front only.

Dealer has come back and said they do not know how to and does not think the Wiring Harness is there for it.

Need some help here - harness should be there and software should be able to handle.

Ideas? thoughts?

Thanks,

What camera do you have? Maybe just a backup camera I assume? Do you have the large sync3 center stack screen?

I just don't think a dealer would be able to figure all the procedures to retrofit your truck. You may be best with something aftermarket.

You can order the front camera as a factory option. So it would seem to me that the wiring/plugs and sync camera software should all be there - just need to add to the system. Factory floor guys I do not think are doing anything unique other than plug and play.

Seems Ford should have a add on kit available to do this?

So of the 7 possible cameras, which ones do you have?

1.) Front - No
2.) Driver side - No
3.) Passenger side - No
4.) Lane keeping camera @ rear view mirror - ???
5.) Rear back up camera - ???
6.) Center High Mount camera, looking into the bed - ???
7.) Aux camera for trailer mount - ???

It looks like you have three options that will be installed in your truck. 2 Camera system, 3 camera system, and 7 camera system. And after researching it I'm going to say you cannot just add the front module unless you change to a new IPMB. This is because if you have only the 2 or 3 camera system it only have 1 digital input (rear camera) and the front would be another digital camera. So you would need the IPMB and full Ultimate Tow package contents to just get that front camera. This may even include wiring harness' just not new modules. See attached document for references.

One option maybe to find a similar style camera that is analog and fits into the front of the truck somewhere. Think of it like getting the trailer camera and just mounting it on front of your truck, just in a cleaner fashion.

I have the TWO camera system rear parking aid and CHMSL. Not opposed to adding ALL the cameras just mainly want the front one for parking in Dallas area where everything is made for compact cars and not trucks.....lol

There are a lot of post that state wiring harnesses are not universal for the 2017 rather they are per truck. If this is the case you may not have the wiring needed to add the front stock camera.

The front camera also has a specific Ford badge with a sprayer built in to wash the camera when you wash your windshield.

I second the idea of just getting a small aftermarket camera and putting it up front.

The harness' are Vin specific.
Plus depending on how many cameras you get when you order makes a difference on which ones change from a twisted pair with shield to a digital coax
So I would say if you didn't order it your SOL

I called camera source and they said they don't have anything available for the sync 3 with the newest version 2.2. They also don't have a Birdseye view like the oem does.

I'm just looking to add the oem camera system. I'm sure it will be costly but I wouldn't mind knowing exactly what I would need to make it work. I have a 450 platinum with package .773a

I'm sure the main harness is there but I'll prob have to get the module and digital coax wires. Not sure about programming.

The engineers must live in Florida. The sprayer is really needed on the rear camera. 3 miles on a snow/salt covered road and the image is obscured.

Agreed on this statement as well it is also happening to me with the adaptive cruise control if there's any slush on the road it only takes about 1/2hr and it kicks off

I would like to add a forward camera as well. Or all also. I only have the back up camera as I have Lariat Value package.
