4.6 L V8 into a 1978 F150

Are there fit issues with installing a 4.6 L V8 into a 1978 F150 with a 400 ci?

Space-wise? No.

But it's gonna be a gutless wonder in my opinion. Unless the engine is hopped up.

What trans ya using?

Do a 5.4. I have a '03 crown vic, the 4.6 has no low end torque. Performance mods don't do much to help, it's a rpm motor. If you have A/C in the truck, even the 4.6 might be tight, they are wide motors. Maybe brake booster interference? I'm sure it's been done.

By 'hop up" I'm talking about forced induction with either a supecharger or turbos.

Torque at low RPMs is what these heavy trucks need....A 4.6 in a Dent won't be able to get out of its own way... you'll be a rolling chicane.

IMHO opinion it won't be that bad. Depending on what 4.6 you use. I play with the PI engines a lot. A bolt on modified PI 4.6 2v can have 250 ft/lb of torque at 1500 rpm and peak over 300 at 4000 rpm and that is comparable to a 400m in stock form.
I have a 99 mustang that was a v6 and had a 4.6 DOHC and now currently has a 5.4 DOHC. Now the torque of the 5.4 is much better than the 4.6, but I am running a Cobra intake for better flow.

I have a couple of options for modular motors and have been thinking about finding a crown Vic for the wiring, drivetrain, suspension and use a 5.4 DOHC. Then find me a swb f100 get it swapped then start playing with some forced induction.

I'm looking at putting a 4.6 in a 78 bronco, I'm 20 and pretty new to this, could you tell me where you got motor mounts to fit, or what type I would need
